The Journey Pregnancy App has received funding from the National Science Foundation to study the usefulness of a software app to monitor for the development of preeclampsia.

National Science Foundation

According to the CDC, the U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate in the developed world. We’re embarking on a research study to see if a new software app, The Journey, can help improve pregnancy outcomes and reduce disparities.

What is the Journey Pregnancy App?

The Journey Pregnancy App is  software  that allows women to track vital signs like blood pressure and blood sugar in pregnancy and transmits this information to providers in real time. Benefits include: increasing womens’ engagement in their care; increasing communication between patient and provider; providing early warnings in conditions like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes and mood disorders.

The situation is too urgent to wait.

In the US, for every 100,000 African American or Native American women who give birth, over 37 die! This is 3x the rate for White women in the US and 4x the rate of women in France.

In the last decade investigations have revealed the causes and locations of maternal mortality but very little about the causes of the disparity in outcomes.

We hypothesize that two important factors in improving care for all women are 1) increasing women’s knowledge and self-efficacy and 2) decreasing the time between symptom onset and recognition of its urgency.

We aim to put technology in women’s hands that is easy to use, engaging, and captures the data clinicians need to effectively monitor health during and after pregnancy.

Your participation is urgent to create solutions now!

The Journey Pregnancy App Study

The Journey Pregnancy App has received funding from the National Science Foundation to study the usefulness of a software app to monitor for the development of preeclampsia.

The Journey Pregnancy app allows women to track vital signs in pregnancy.  Once fully developed,  the app will be able to transmit a pregnant person’s information directly the provider she identified in real time. Our goals in creating this app are to increase  engagement by pregnant persons in their care; increase communication between with health care providers and; provide timely monitoring of  conditions like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes and mood disorders.
