Now pregnant women have a choice!

What is Supportive Pregnancy Care (also called Group Prenatal Care)?

Supportive Pregnancy Care is an innovative alternative to individual prenatal care. Women receive usual prenatal care and education along with other women who are due at the same time. Two hour long sessions allow women  to discuss questions, concerns, and solutions together and with the group facilitator.  Women learn, build skills for self-care during pregnancy and birth and spend more time with care providers. You can choose to join a group session for your monthly checkups or continue in traditional individual care

Benefits of participating

Studies show moms who have the opportunity for group prenatal care:

  • –become more actively engaged in their pregnancy and healthcare
  • –form networks of education and support for each other
  • –have better maternal and infant  health outcomes in some areas
  • –are better prepared for labor, delivery, and caring for their infant
  • –are more satisfied with their prenatal care experience
